Job Description

Role Overview

This position sits within an aircraft maintenance organisation, acting as the bridge between daily operational demands and the long-term availability of certified production staff. The role is responsible for designing and maintaining staffing schedules that keep maintenance lines fully covered, while also ensuring every technician holds the mandatory qualifications required to work on customer airline fleets. Every roster decision directly impacts aircraft turnaround times and regulatory compliance, making this a critical planning function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain medium- and long-term staffing plans in close consultation with technical managers, making sure every maintenance section has the correct number of people with the right skills at all times.
  • Coordinate leave calendars with sectional managers so that time off requests are balanced against operational coverage requirements and company policy.
  • Plan and track training activity for production staff, ensuring mandatory certifications and functional qualifications remain current and aligned with the organisation's training schedule.
  • Publish 28-day rosters at least one full week before each cycle begins, allowing technicians and supervisors to plan around confirmed assignments.
  • Spot potential staffing shortfalls before they become disruptions, then propose practical mitigation steps to keep maintenance commitments on schedule.
  • Prepare and analyse recurring reports on training completion, leave uptake, and overall workforce productivity for management review and decision-making.
  • Design and implement resource deployment rules, then translate those rules into the workforce management system so planning is consistent, transparent, and measurable across all departments.
  • Use mathematical modelling, statistical analysis, and what-if scenarios to evaluate the likely impact of schedule changes or business decisions on staffing levels and key performance indicators.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • University degree or diploma in a relevant discipline such as aviation management, operations planning, statistics, or logistics.
  • At least five years of experience in an airline operational environment, preferably within maintenance, engineering, or production control.
  • Additional experience in resource management, workforce scheduling, or crew planning is a strong advantage.
  • Working knowledge of KCAA and/or EASA rules and regulations as they apply to aircraft maintenance and technician certification.
  • Ability to document systems, processes, and project reports in a clear and structured manner.
  • Proficiency with standard IT tools as well as MRO-specific planning and resource management applications.
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail and sound judgment.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the assertiveness and agility to manage shifting priorities and influence process owners effectively.
