Technical Resource Implementer

Role Overview

This position ensures that every maintenance shift is covered by the right number of engineers and technicians, balancing operational demand with safety and regulatory compliance. You will act as the central coordinator between maintenance planning, production teams, and workforce availability, making real-time decisions when schedules are disrupted. By anticipating staffing gaps and resolving them quickly, you help keep the aircraft maintenance programme running smoothly and cost-effectively across the network.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the daily assignment of engineers and technicians across maintenance shifts, ensuring the available skill mix matches the workload while avoiding overstaffing or understaffing.
• React quickly to schedule interruptions such as aircraft breakdowns, weather delays, or changing customer requirements, and reallocate personnel to minimise operational impact.
• Work closely with technical planning and production supervisors to confirm that current and upcoming maintenance tasks have sufficient manpower, and adjust forecasts as the maintenance plan evolves.
• Track all forms of employee availability including leave, sick leave, training attendance, and unauthorised absences, and keep accurate records that support fair and consistent rostering.
• Monitor overtime usage and compile statistics on staffing efficiency, presenting findings that help leadership identify trends and control labour costs.
• Coordinate with production areas to ensure both day-to-day maintenance operations and structured training programmes are properly resourced, without compromising compliance.
• Recommend updates to procedures and working practices where they reduce waste, improve turnaround times, or deliver better cost performance, and support their implementation.
• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy working environment by enforcing company standards and regulatory requirements, and ensure all resource scheduling decisions are communicated through the maintenance control function.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A university degree or diploma in engineering, aviation management, supply chain, or a related discipline.
• At least five years of experience in airline operations, ideally with direct exposure to maintenance, ground operations, or flight operations environments.
• Previous involvement in resource management, crew scheduling, or manpower planning is a strong advantage.
• Working knowledge of Kenyan Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) rules and regulations as they apply to maintenance organisations.
• Proven ability to negotiate and coordinate between different departments while remaining assertive and clear in communication.
• Strong analytical and diagnostic thinking, with the creativity and lateral-thinking skills needed to solve resource conflicts quickly.
• Comfortable adapting to changing priorities and fast-moving operational situations, remaining agile and calm under pressure.
• Solid IT proficiency covering database management (MS Access), spreadsheets (MS Excel), word processing (MS Word), presentations (MS PowerPoint), and project planning (MS Project), along with the ability to document processes systematically.
