Technical Operator

Role Overview

As a Technical Operator in an FMCG production facility, you will run and monitor manufacturing machinery across production shifts, carrying out start-ups, changeovers and routine checks to keep output consistent. By spotting faults early and following quality and safety procedures, you will help limit downtime and protect product standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate production equipment and adjust machine settings to support daily output requirements.
• Complete machine start-ups, shutdowns, grade changeovers and calibration checks in accordance with operating procedures.
• Watch equipment performance, investigate unusual readings or output changes, and address minor issues within your authority.
• Perform scheduled inspections, cleaning, lubrication and basic servicing of machinery.
• Report significant breakdowns and arrange follow-up with the engineering or maintenance team.
• Check production conditions and packaging quality against required specifications, while following GMP and workplace safety rules.
• Record production volumes, material use, scrap, downtime, maintenance activity and shift handover information.
• Flag recurring equipment problems and suggest practical ways to improve reliability and production flow.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering; plant engineering or industrial machinery training is preferred.
• One to three years of practical experience in machine operation, technical maintenance or production-floor support.
• Previous experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment is required.
• Working knowledge of mechanical assemblies, electrical control systems and industrial automation principles.
• Ability to identify equipment faults, take appropriate corrective action and escalate issues beyond your authorization.
• Careful approach to production records, quality checks, factory safety and GMP requirements.
• Available for full-time, on-site shift work in Thika, Kenya.
