Role Overview
This field-based role focuses on installing, servicing, and removing GPS tracking hardware in client vehicles, ensuring each unit works correctly and safely. Day-to-day work involves following dispatch instructions, working with vehicle electrical systems, and completing accurate records that keep the operations team accountable. The role matters because dependable installations directly affect customer trust, fleet safety, and the company’s ability to track assets without errors.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, service, and decommission tracking devices and related accessories across a variety of vehicle types.
- Receive daily work assignments from the Operations Supervisor and communicate planned movements before and after completing each job.
- Handle tools, trackers, and accessories responsibly, including checking them in and out and returning them in proper condition.
- Complete detailed job cards for every task and submit them promptly for processing.
- Follow safety protocols strictly during installations to avoid damage to client vehicles and prevent personal injury.
- Represent the company professionally while on client premises through appropriate conduct, dress, and communication.
- Test each device after installation to confirm GPS signal, engine cut-off functionality, and proper communication with the tracking platform.
- Report technical faults or unusual device behavior to the Operations Supervisor immediately for escalation.
- Provide basic client guidance on device operation and functionality when requested after installation.
- Keep accurate records of completed jobs, noting any challenges, client complaints, or site-specific issues encountered.
- Support audits and physical inspections by verifying that installed devices match internal logs and records.
- Protect confidential client data, vehicle access details, and internal system configurations at all times.
- Participate in periodic technical training and stay current with system updates and installation practices.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Certificate or diploma in automotive electrical/electronics, mechatronics, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of hands-on experience in vehicle electronics or tracking system installation.
- Valid driver’s or rider’s license is considered an added advantage.
- Familiarity with GPS tracking systems and their installation requirements.
- Solid understanding of vehicle electrical systems, wiring, and basic diagnostics.
