Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Filing
Prepare and file statutory tax returns including:
- VAT
- PAYE
- Withholding Tax
- Corporate Income Tax
- Ensure timely submission of all tax obligations in compliance with KRA deadlines
- Maintain an updated tax compliance calendar
KRA System Management (iTax)
- Manage and operate the KRA iTax system efficiently
- Upload returns, make applications, and process tax-related transactions
- Monitor tax ledgers and reconcile discrepancies within the system
KRA Engagement & Liaison
- Act as a point of contact between the organization and KRA officers
- Handle tax queries, assessments, and compliance notices
- Follow up on tax refunds, objections, and dispute resolutions
- Support during KRA audits and investigations
Tax Reconciliation & Reporting
- Perform regular tax reconciliations (VAT, PAYE, WHT, etc.)
- Ensure alignment between accounting records and tax filings
- Prepare tax reports for management review
Documentation & Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate and organized tax records and supporting documentation
- Ensure all filings and correspondence with KRA are properly archived
Advisory & Risk Management
- Identify potential tax risks and compliance gaps
- Support implementation of tax-efficient practices within legal frameworks
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and KRA regulations
Job Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA (Part II or above) or equivalent qualification
- 3–5 years’ experience in a tax or finance role
- Proven experience using KRA iTax system
- Demonstrated experience in engaging with KRA officers on tax matters.
