  • Carry out customs health checks, assess trade processes, and identify compliance gaps, risks, and potential opportunities.
  • Analyse and reconcile customs data, calculating duty exposure and investigating discrepancies.
  • Draft advisory memoranda, technical reports, client presentations, and correspondence tailored to each engagement.
  • Research customs laws, case decisions, regional trade agreements, and regulatory changes relevant to client matters.
  • Assist with engagements involving customs authorities and other regulatory agencies.
  • Contribute to proposals, business development activity, and ongoing client relationship management.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Economics, Law, International Trade, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • At least two years of relevant experience in customs, international trade, tax advisory, logistics, freight forwarding, or regulatory compliance.
  • KCSE overall grade of B or higher, including at least a B in English and Mathematics.
  • Knowledge of the East African Community Customs Management Act, customs valuation, tariff classification, rules of origin, the EAC Common External Tariff, and WTO customs valuation principles is an advantage.
  • A recognised diploma in Customs Administration, Customs Operations, or International Trade, including a qualification from KESRA, is an advantage.
  • CPA, ACCA, CILT, or another relevant professional qualification is an advantage.
  • Strong technical judgement, careful attention to detail, and the ability to analyse problems and reach sound conclusions.
  • A collaborative, resourceful, and efficient approach, with the resilience to work under pressure.
  • Professional integrity, discretion, confidentiality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
