Role Overview
You will act as the on-site human resources and safety focal point for a construction or industrial project in Kenya, keeping daily personnel operations aligned with company policy and legal requirements. Your work will help ensure site teams are properly onboarded, supervised, and supported, while also maintaining safety standards, hygiene, and orderly site conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate site-level HR functions including workforce attendance, leave tracking, and maintenance of accurate personnel records.
- Manage recruitment and onboarding of casual and short-term site workers, including contracts, inductions, and orientation to site rules.
- Support compliance with Kenyan labour laws and company HR policies, advising site managers on employee relations, disciplinary matters, and grievances.
- Organise and facilitate safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and awareness briefings for site personnel.
- Carry out regular site safety inspections, identify hazards, and follow up on corrective actions with supervisors.
- Oversee site housekeeping schedules and supervise security personnel to ensure a safe, organised working environment.
- Document safety incidents, near misses, and accidents, then prepare reports with practical recommendations to reduce recurrence.
- Prepare HR and safety reports for management, using Microsoft Office tools to track staffing, training, and compliance metrics.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in human resource management, business administration, occupational safety and health, or a related discipline.
- Certification in occupational safety and health such as OSHA, NEBOSH, or KPSF safety training is highly desirable.
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in HR, administration, or safety roles, ideally within construction or industrial project environments.
- Hands-on experience with site safety management, labour coordination, and general administrative duties.
- Prior responsibility for supervising housekeeping teams or security personnel on a site is an advantage.
- Strong working knowledge of Kenyan labour laws, HR policies, and relevant occupational safety regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with basic HR software.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities independently.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict-resolution ability in a construction or industrial setting.
