Role Overview
This position puts you on the front line of a building materials showroom that serves homeowners, interior designers, contractors, and property developers. Your main job is to turn showroom visits and digital enquiries into paid orders by advising customers on ceramic tiles, sanitary ware, and related fittings, then preparing accurate quotes and following the sale through to delivery. The role directly drives showroom revenue, so your ability to build trust, solve product-selection problems, and close deals matters every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and qualify everyone who walks into the showroom, asking about their project type, material preferences, and budget so you can recommend the right products.
- Showcase ceramic and porcelain tiles, sanitary ware, fitting accessories, and adhesives, explaining how each option performs and how it fits the customer’s design goals.
- Increase average order value by suggesting complementary items and related products, then confidently converting floor enquiries into confirmed sales.
- Keep the showroom looking sharp: arrange product displays, sample boards, and price labels so everything is clean, current, and easy for customers to browse.
- Draft formal quotations using exact floor measurements, product codes, and the approved price list, making sure every detail is accurate before sending it out.
- Enter customer orders into the POS or ERP system, double-checking product codes, colour batches, quantities, and requested delivery dates, and coordinate with warehouse, logistics, and dispatch colleagues to confirm stock levels and keep deliveries on schedule.
- Track your quotation pipeline, keep structured notes on customer conversations and order progress, and follow up proactively with leads who came in by phone, email, WhatsApp, or social media.
- Build repeat business by staying in touch with interior designers, plumbers, tiling contractors, and residential developers, and by sharing market feedback on competitor pricing, design trends, and demand shifts with management.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Sales and Marketing, Business Administration, Commerce, or a similar discipline.
- Two to five years of sales experience in showroom retail, customer support, or field sales, with a clear record of hitting or beating sales targets.
- Prior exposure to ceramic tiles, sanitary ware, hardware, building finishes, furniture, or construction materials is strongly preferred.
- Comfort using point-of-sale systems, CRM tools, or other enterprise sales software.
- Strong spoken communication and active listening skills, plus the ability to write clear, formal quotations.
- Ability to read basic architectural or tiling layout plans and calculate tile square metre requirements accurately.
- A target-driven mindset and the discipline to manage multiple customer conversations without losing track of details.
