Role Overview
This is a front-line food service position for someone who has already spent a few years working in fast-paced kitchens, counters, or dining floors and wants to keep building on that foundation. You will be the person customers interact with most — taking orders, serving food and drinks, handling payments, and keeping the service area clean, stocked, and running smoothly through rush periods. Getting the details right matters here: accurate orders, correct handling, and a warm interaction are what turn a first-time visitor into a regular.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers promptly and guide them through the menu, answering questions about ingredients, portion sizes, and daily items.
- Take orders accurately and enter them into the POS system, flagging special requests or dietary needs to the kitchen or preparation team.
- Prepare and serve food and beverages to the standard set by the outlet, checking presentation and temperature before items leave the counter.
- Process cash, card, and digital payments, issue receipts, and reconcile the till at the start and end of each shift.
- Keep counters, tables, equipment, and seating areas clean and sanitised throughout the day, following food safety and hygiene procedures.
- Monitor stock levels for ingredients, packaging, and supplies, and restock or report shortages before they affect service.
- Resolve customer complaints calmly and professionally, escalating to a supervisor when a situation needs more authority than you have.
- Coordinate with teammates during peak hours to keep order queues, food pickup, and table turnover moving without bottlenecks.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in food service and customer-facing roles, ideally in a high-volume outlet.
- Confident, energetic, and self-driven approach to work — able to stay productive without constant supervision.
- Strong spoken communication and customer service skills, including the ability to handle difficult interactions politely.
- Solid teamwork habits and close attention to detail, particularly around order accuracy and cleanliness standards.
- Comfortable using a POS system and basic computer applications for order entry, payments, and simple records.
- Availability to work weekends and public holidays as part of the regular roster.
