Role Overview
This role sits at the heart of a fast-growing hotel's commercial push, combining proactive business development with hands-on account management. You will be responsible for opening doors to new corporate and group revenue streams while deepening relationships with existing partners, with a clear mandate to move the needle on occupancy, revenue, and market share. Day to day, you will balance outbound prospecting, client entertainment, contract negotiations, and cross-departmental coordination to ensure that every lead translates into booked business and lasting partnership value.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and execute a quarterly sales plan targeting corporate accounts, travel intermediaries, and event organisers, with clear revenue and activity goals.
- Prospect and qualify new business through cold outreach, site visits, industry networking, and referrals, then convert those leads into confirmed room nights, meetings, and events.
- Negotiate corporate rates, group contracts, and long-term partnership agreements that protect hotel profitability while remaining competitive.
- Manage a portfolio of key accounts with structured follow-up cycles, business reviews, and tailor-made proposals that anticipate client needs.
- Generate and secure bookings for conferences, weddings, gala dinners, and large group accommodations, coordinating closely with events and banqueting teams.
- Monitor competitor pricing, local market demand, and client booking patterns to spot emerging opportunities and adjust sales tactics accordingly.
- Maintain accurate opportunity pipelines and account records in the CRM, and provide weekly updates on sales activity, forecast, and wins.
- Partner with the marketing team to plan joint campaigns, sales blitzes, and brand-building events that drive direct enquiries.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, business administration, marketing, or a related field.
- At least 6 years' experience in hotel sales or business development, with a proven record of hitting or exceeding annual revenue targets.
- Hands-on experience managing corporate accounts, travel agency partnerships, or MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions) business.
- Strong working knowledge of hotel revenue metrics, yield management principles, and the competitive landscape in the hospitality sector.
- Practical proficiency with CRM systems, sales reporting tools, and the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills, with the confidence to engage senior decision-makers and C-level buyers.
- Self-directed working style with strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise multiple leads and deadlines simultaneously.
