Job Description

Role Overview

This position is accountable for turning strategic partnerships into measurable subscriber and revenue growth across key African markets. You will own the commercial relationship with telecommunications operators, digital distribution platforms, and billing partners, while also steering regional marketing teams to execute acquisition, conversion, and retention campaigns. Your day-to-day work will balance high-stakes negotiations with data-driven decision-making: reviewing performance dashboards, identifying partnership gaps, and translating market insights into actions that directly impact the company’s growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the full lifecycle of strategic telecommunications and digital distribution partnerships: negotiating terms, preparing commercial proposals, managing renewals, and conducting structured performance reviews with each partner.
  • Set and own revenue targets for subscriber growth, average revenue per user, and churn reduction across multiple African markets, then drive the commercial plans needed to hit those numbers.
  • Direct regional marketing, partnerships, social media, and community teams by defining clear objectives, allocating resources, and holding leaders accountable for delivery.
  • Design content and distribution strategies that move users from first touch through conversion, engagement, and long-term retention, using data to refine each stage of the funnel.
  • Identify and activate new distribution channels beyond traditional telecom partnerships, including billing aggregators, technology platforms, device manufacturers, and digital content ecosystems.
  • Translate audience, market, and creative performance data into actionable recommendations for paid acquisition campaigns and broader growth initiatives.
  • Work with Product and Finance teams to align pricing, revenue reporting, customer data, and commercial forecasting across the business.
  • Represent the organisation in senior-level commercial discussions, acting as the primary commercial voice with strategic external partners.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Sales, or a related field.
  • At least 5–7 years of experience managing telecommunications, digital distribution, technology, or strategic commercial partnerships within African markets, with a proven record of delivering revenue growth.
  • Hands-on experience in commercial negotiation, contract management, and partner development at regional or multi-country level.
  • Deep working knowledge of subscriber and growth metrics: customer acquisition, average revenue per user, churn, conversion, engagement, and retention.
  • Strong analytical fluency, independently interpreting Google Analytics, revenue dashboards, customer databases, and marketing performance reports to draw conclusions and drive decisions.
  • Solid understanding of content marketing, audience development, social media, and customer engagement strategies, particularly for mobile or subscription-based products.
  • Proven ability to lead distributed or regional teams, setting clear targets and fostering accountability across functions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging senior executives both internally and externally.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment while managing multiple priorities across markets.
  • Experience with digital, mobile, subscription, or technology businesses is a distinct advantage.
