Job Description

Role Overview

This Senior Investment Analyst position sits at the centre of the organisation's capital allocation and performance strategy. Day to day, you will evaluate acquisition opportunities, build financial models around vehicle inventory and pricing scenarios, and produce research that guides executive decisions on where to deploy resources for maximum return. Your work directly shapes the organisation's growth trajectory by turning raw market data into clear, actionable investment recommendations that balance short-term profitability with long-term stability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models to assess potential investments, asset purchases, and dealership expansion opportunities, stress-testing assumptions across different market conditions.
  • Conduct in-depth research on the Kenyan automotive and asset financing landscape, tracking competitor pricing, demand trends, and regulatory shifts that could impact investment returns.
  • Prepare investment memoranda and board-level presentations that clearly communicate risk-adjusted returns, key drivers, and recommended courses of action for senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across sales, operations, and finance to align pricing strategies with broader investment objectives and ensure consistent execution of approved plans.
  • Monitor portfolio performance against projected targets, identifying underperforming assets and proposing timely corrective measures to safeguard capital.
  • Support due diligence processes for potential acquisitions or partnerships, including reviewing financial statements, assessing valuation assumptions, and flagging operational risks.
  • Ensure all investment activities adhere to internal governance standards, external regulatory requirements, and the organisation's code of conduct, documenting decisions and rationale appropriately.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior analysts, fostering a culture of analytical rigour and continuous professional development within the team.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline; a Master's degree in Finance or a relevant field is preferred and will set you apart.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA or CPA are an added advantage, demonstrating a commitment to technical excellence and ethical practice.
  • At least five years of proven experience in investment analysis, asset management, corporate finance, or a closely related role, with direct exposure to the Kenyan market being highly desirable.
  • Strong command of financial modelling software and advanced Excel skills, with the ability to build dynamic models from scratch and interpret complex datasets quickly.
  • Solid understanding of dealership operations, vehicle pricing mechanics, and the broader East African investment landscape, including familiarity with local regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting nuanced financial information to both finance-focused and non-financial audiences.
  • A track record of working collaboratively across departments and managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines without compromising accuracy.
  • High ethical standards and attention to detail, especially when handling confidential financial data or supporting governance and compliance reviews.
