Role Overview
This position centers on leading internal audit work across the Bank's operations, from planning individual engagements through to delivering final reports and tracking corrective actions. Day to day, you will examine financial and operational processes, test internal controls, evaluate compliance with banking regulations and internal policies, and help identify fraud risks or control gaps. Your independent assessments directly support the Bank's leadership in making operations safer, more efficient, and better aligned with governance expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and lead assigned audits in line with the annual plan, determining each engagement's scope, objectives, and risk-based testing approach.
- Execute audits across areas such as branch banking, treasury, credit, compliance, and financial operations, reviewing whether internal controls and governance processes are well designed and operating effectively.
- Analyze transactional and operational data to spot anomalies, inefficiencies, or control weaknesses, using analytics tools to deepen coverage and support fraud detection.
- Document audit evidence, identify root causes of issues, and draft clear, practical recommendations for management action.
- Present findings in exit meetings and formal reports, and follow up on agreed actions to ensure they are implemented and closed out within acceptable timelines.
- Evaluate the Bank's compliance with statutory and prudential requirements, including AML/CFT, KYC, consumer protection, and data protection rules.
- Support fraud investigations and special reviews, assessing whether prevention and detection controls are adequate and escalating irregularities as required.
- Partner with business units to understand their operations and provide advisory input on controls, risk management, and governance—while preserving auditor objectivity.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Banking, or a closely related discipline.
- Professional certification as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K), or ACCA qualified.
- At least five years of experience in internal or external audit, with a minimum of three years specifically in banking or financial services.
- Demonstrated ability to audit banking operations, risk management frameworks, compliance programs, treasury activities, and credit processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for producing audit reports and presenting findings to senior stakeholders.
- Practical experience with data analytics in an audit context is highly desirable, and certifications such as CISA, CFE, or CRMA will be viewed favorably.
