Senior Driver I

Role Overview

This driver operates and cares for assigned vehicles, with a focus on safe, dependable transport and compliance with road and government safety requirements. The role also involves monitoring vehicle condition, completing trip records, following approved schedules and promptly reporting faults so they can be addressed.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive assigned vehicles in line with traffic laws, road-safety requirements and authorized travel schedules.
• Check vehicle condition and identify defects or mechanical issues before and during use.
• Carry out minor mechanical repairs where appropriate and report faults that require further attention.
• Keep the assigned vehicle clean and in good order.
• Complete daily work tickets and maintain accurate records of vehicle use and journeys.
• Report vehicle defects promptly to the appropriate supervisor.
• Apply defensive-driving practices and maintain professional conduct when interacting with passengers and other road users.

Requirements & Qualifications

• At least a KCSE mean grade of D+ or an equivalent qualification.
• A valid, endorsement-free driving licence covering at least Class BCE.
• A valid PSV licence for bus and minibus operation.
• At least 15 years of experience in heavy commercial transport.
• Occupational Trade Test I qualification.
• Basic certificates in First Aid and Occupational Health and Safety.
• Computer literacy.
• Qualifications in public relations, defensive driving and professional testing.
• A Certificate of Good Conduct.
