Job Description

Job Purpose

This position is responsible for the provision of safe and timely transportation of authorized goods and passengers as well as ensuring the proper maintenance and security of Commission vehicles.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive Commission vehicles as authorized for staff and activity logistics.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks and ensure cleanliness of assigned vehicles.
  • Detect and report mechanical malfunctions or vehicle system failures promptly.
  • Organize for vehicle repairs in liaison with Supply Chain and Administration Office.
  • Maintain accurate work tickets and adhere strictly to travel/delivery schedules.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the vehicle, passengers, and goods always.
  • Manage vehicle safety equipment (fire extinguishers, first aid kits) and check validity of insurance/inspection stickers.
  • Account for vehicle-related expenses including fuel card and cash allocations.
  • Collection and delivery of official mail and parcels.
  • Ensure adherence to or observations of the transport policy and traffic laws.
  • Ensure reporting of any incidents to the office and GVCU immediately they occur.
  • Undertake any other duty as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

Experience and Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: K.C.S.E Certificate (Grade D+).
  • Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant work experience.
  • Licensing: Valid driving license (B, C1, D2) free from current endorsements.
  • Certifications: Occupational Trade Test I & II; Defensive Driving Certificate; First Aid Certificate (1-week course); Refresher Course for drivers (within last 3 years).
  • Compliance: Compliance with Chapter 6 of the Constitution.
