Truck Turnboy

Role Overview

The Truck Turnboy supports the driver in delivering goods to customers and distributors safely, accurately, and on schedule. From checking loads and handling products to confirming deliveries and keeping the vehicle ready for use, this role helps protect stock and keep daily distribution moving smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

• Help load, arrange, secure, and unload goods, taking care to prevent damage, breakage, or loss.
• Assist with deliveries to customer, distributor, and other assigned locations, following the driver’s directions on routes and schedules.
• Compare loaded quantities with dispatch documents and help confirm the quantities received at each delivery point.
• Collect customer acknowledgments or proof of delivery when required.
• Report missing, damaged, or disputed goods, as well as delays and other delivery problems, promptly to the driver and supervisor.
• Support vehicle checks before and after trips, keep the truck clean, and report defects, breakdowns, or safety concerns.
• Use safe lifting and cargo-securing practices, wear required PPE, and follow road, workplace, product-handling, and security procedures.
• Raise any accident, incident, or unsafe condition as soon as it occurs.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or an equivalent qualification.
• Basic literacy and numeracy to check quantities and understand delivery documents.
• Previous work as a turnboy, delivery assistant, loader, or in logistics or distribution is an advantage; candidates with no prior experience may also be considered.
• Experience in FMCG, beverage, manufacturing, or distribution operations is preferred.
• Careful and accurate when handling products and checking quantities.
• Communicates well, works cooperatively with the driver and other team members, and demonstrates integrity and accountability.
• Able to work under pressure and meet delivery deadlines.
