Role Overview
The Finance Manager will lead core finance operations for a trading, distribution, or import business, keeping reporting, cash management, and controls accurate and timely. Reporting to the COO and CEO, the role will also guide the accounts team and provide clear financial information to support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee financial reporting and ensure accounting records are complete and reliable.
- Manage account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies through to resolution.
- Monitor cash flow and support effective management of the business’s financial resources.
- Coordinate budgeting and track financial performance against plans.
- Lead credit control activities and follow up on outstanding customer balances.
- Review import costs, including foreign-currency transactions and landed-cost calculations.
- Ensure finance processes take account of applicable Kenyan tax and statutory requirements.
- Supervise the accounts team and make effective use of Odoo or a comparable ERP system.
Requirements & Qualifications
- CPA (K) or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
- At least five years of finance experience in a trading, distribution, or import business.
- Strong working knowledge of Odoo or a similar ERP platform.
- Good understanding of Kenyan statutory obligations and tax requirements.
- Practical experience with foreign-currency transactions and import landed costing.
- Hindi or Gujarati language skills are preferred for communication with business owners and key suppliers.
