Role Overview
You will be responsible for operating one of our company vehicles safely and efficiently on roads across Kenya, whether moving passengers or cargo to scheduled destinations. Your daily focus will be on pre-trip inspections, route management, and maintaining full compliance with transport regulations. Because every trip reflects directly on our organisation, your disciplined driving and judgment help protect lives, safeguard property, and keep our operations running on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive company vehicles in strict adherence to Kenyan traffic laws, speed limits, and established road safety regulations.
- Carry out thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks, covering brakes, tyres, lights, oil, water, and other critical components, and report any faults before taking the vehicle out.
- Transport passengers or goods to their destinations according to set schedules, evaluating conditions and selecting the safest and most efficient routes.
- Maintain accurate journey records, including mileage, fuel usage, pick-up and drop-off points, and any incidental incidents on the road.
- Ensure that the vehicle's PSV documentation, insurance, and physical fitness certificates are up-to-date and available for inspection whenever required.
- Apply defensive driving techniques throughout every shift, staying alert for unexpected hazards, adverse weather, and changing traffic patterns.
- Keep the vehicle interior and exterior clean, and carry out minor routine maintenance or escalate mechanical concerns to the relevant team.
- Immediately report all accidents, breakdowns, or near-misses to the supervisor and follow the proper emergency response procedures.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Valid Kenyan driving licence in the appropriate category for the vehicle you will operate.
- A minimum of three years of practical, on-road driving experience in Kenya.
- Valid and current Certificate of Good Conduct.
- Valid Certificate of Physical Fitness (medical examination) and up-to-date PSV documentation.
- Good working knowledge of Kenyan traffic laws, road signs, and road safety regulations.
- A clear driving record with a demonstrated commitment to accident-free driving.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge is an added advantage, including the ability to spot common mechanical issues and perform simple troubleshooting.
