Role Overview
This role places you at the heart of a busy commercial operation in Upperhill, Nairobi, where you will spend your day on a motorcycle moving goods between the base and customers across the city. You are not just a courier; each stop doubles as a sales touchpoint, so you will also introduce clients to current promotions and collect payments before heading back to base. The position matters because your reliability directly affects customer satisfaction and repeat business, while your field feedback helps the company spot new sales opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and transport products from the Upperhill base to customer locations across Nairobi, verifying order accuracy before departure.
- Plan the most efficient route for each delivery run, using your knowledge of traffic patterns to meet time windows.
- Keep a clear log of every delivery, capture client signatures as proof of receipt, and notify the operations supervisor about any delays or wrong addresses without delay.
- Act as the company’s on-the-ground sales presence by telling customers about current offers, new product lines, and related items during each drop-off.
- Collect customer payments in cash, M-Pesa, or other approved channels at the point of delivery, then reconcile every transaction with the finance team at the end of the day.
- Inspect the motorcycle every morning before starting your route, check fuel, tires, brakes, and lights, and keep the bike clean and roadworthy.
- Coordinate routine servicing with fleet management and ensure your riding licence, insurance, and road licence remain valid at all times.
- Note customer feedback, complaints, and potential leads during your visits, then pass these details to the sales team for follow-up.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A valid Kenyan motorcycle riding licence with a Class A, A2, or A3 endorsement.
- At least one year of practical experience in courier delivery, field sales, retail distribution, or another customer-facing logistics role.
- Strong working knowledge of Upperhill, the Nairobi CBD, major commercial hubs, and residential routes in the city and its environs.
- Good spoken communication in English and Swahili, with a courteous and professional manner when dealing with clients.
- A basic ability to introduce products and encourage repeat purchases during everyday service interactions.
- Honesty and accuracy when handling cash payments, combined with a disciplined approach to record-keeping.
- Punctuality and the ability to plan your own day with minimal supervision while keeping the route schedule on track.
- Physical fitness and comfort working outdoors on a motorcycle in varying Nairobi traffic conditions.
