Role Overview
This position keeps the Sacco’s technology backbone running securely and reliably. The IT Administrator manages servers, networks, backups, and the core banking platform while enforcing security controls that protect member data and transactions. The role also supports staff with day-to-day technical needs, maintains critical management software, and works with external vendors to sustain performance and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain the Sacco’s network, server environment, and backup routines to ensure continuous availability.
- Implement and monitor cybersecurity safeguards that protect member information and financial transactions.
- Oversee the core banking system, keeping it operational, secure, and aligned with daily business needs.
- Provide responsive technical support to staff, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Maintain and update Sacco management software, applying patches and configuration changes for efficiency and compliance.
- Monitor system performance, tune resources, and address bottlenecks to minimize downtime.
- Control user accounts, access permissions, and data protection policies across the organization.
- Coordinate with hardware, software, and IT service vendors for maintenance, repairs, and renewals.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as Microsoft, Fortinet, or CompTIA credentials.
- Active membership in a relevant professional body.
- Practical experience working with Sacco core banking systems.
- Strong database management skills, including SQL, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Solid understanding of network administration, firewall management, and cybersecurity practices.
- Comfort working with mobile and digital banking integrations.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot IT problems and deliver timely support.
- At least 3–5 years of IT administration experience, preferably in a Sacco or financial institution.
- Core competencies: excellent interpersonal and communication skills, resourcefulness, strong problem-solving and negotiation abilities, high integrity, attention to detail, dependability, leadership skills, and ICT competence.
