Role Overview
This position sits at the centre of the cooperative's technology operations, balancing day-to-day system support with long-term planning and risk management. You will translate the cooperative's strategic ambitions into a practical ICT roadmap, overseeing everything from core business platforms and network infrastructure to user assistance and cybersecurity. Your work directly protects sensitive member and operational data, keeps essential production and financial systems running without interruption, and helps the organisation move toward greater automation and digitalisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare an annual ICT operational plan, budget, and timeline that aligns with the cooperative's wider goals, then track progress and report on results to management and the board.
- Draft, review, and enforce ICT policies, standards, and internal controls so that all technology use remains consistent, compliant, and secure.
- Administer and maintain the organisation's critical business systems, including financial platforms, farm management software, milling production trackers, property and Agrovet inventory tools, and coffee marketing applications, along with associated databases, servers, and networks.
- Monitor system health, capacity, and uptime; schedule and coordinate upgrades, patches, and integrations; and recommend performance improvements before issues disrupt operations.
- Implement security safeguards, respond to cyber threats and vulnerabilities, investigate security incidents, and raise staff awareness about safe technology practices.
- Maintain an active ICT risk register, support internal and external technology audits, and ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act and other relevant legal obligations.
- Design, test, and maintain backups, disaster recovery plans, and business continuity procedures to keep the cooperative operational during disruptions.
- Resolve first- and second-line support requests covering hardware, software, networks, and applications; install and configure computers, printers, and communication devices; and manage vendor relationships, equipment procurement, and system documentation.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field from a recognised university.
- At least three years of practical experience in systems administration, network administration, or ICT support roles.
- Relevant professional certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA A+, or Microsoft Certified Professional; additional cybersecurity certification is highly valued.
- Candidates must be at least 25 years old at the time of application.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple ICT systems, document configurations, and communicate technical advice clearly to non-technical staff and leadership.
