Role Overview
This role is responsible for the safe and punctual transport of filled gas cylinders from the company's filling facility to distributor locations, and the return of empty cylinders in compliance with standard operating procedures. Each day involves coordinating with loading teams, container coordinators, and sales agents to maintain a smooth flow of stock, while taking full ownership of the assigned truck's condition, paperwork, and driving conduct. The position matters because reliable movement of gas cylinders directly supports the company's supply chain and customer service commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain professional working relationships with container coordinators, loaders, off‑loaders, direct sales agents, and any other colleagues encountered during daily duties.
- Deliver filled gas cylinders to designated container locations promptly and collect empty cylinders according to the standard operating procedures.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environment policies when handling company products, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe driving practices.
- Take complete charge of the assigned truck: perform pre‑trip inspections, adhere to service interval schedules, and maintain overall cleanliness of the vehicle.
- Assume full responsibility for all vehicle accessories, including the first‑aid kit, fire extinguisher, and tool kit, ensuring they are present and in working order.
- Execute delivery processes exactly as defined in the standard operating procedures, both physically on site and through the company's mobile application system.
- Verify that all statutory licences (including EPRA and NTSA permits) are current and valid before commencing any trip, and ensure insurance, inspection, branding, and inter‑county permits are up to date.
- Achieve quick turnaround times at stock locations as per set key performance indicators, and drive the truck in full compliance with the Kenya Traffic Act (Cap 404). Report all accidents and incidents immediately as they occur.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Valid driving licence – at minimum Class C.
- Valid EPRA licence for transporting petroleum or liquefied gas products.
- At least two years of driving experience within a corporate or commercial environment.
- A valid certificate of good conduct is mandatory.
