Role Overview
This role sits at the core of our field operations in the Northern Region, turning product strategy into daily sales and service excellence. You will spend most of your time in the field developing Energy Officers and Area Business Managers so they can demonstrate, pitch, install, troubleshoot, and close deals for Solar Home Systems and Inverters. By owning agent capability, content delivery, and portfolio-quality coaching, you directly influence collection scores and weighted-unit productivity across your zone.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the onboarding and continuous skill development of field agents, from product knowledge and direct sales techniques to objection handling and collections discipline.
- Design and deliver practical learning modules—including slide decks, quick-reference guides, demo scripts, and short video tutorials—that are localised to zone-specific languages and customer profiles.
- Run “train-the-trainer” sessions for Area Mentors and Cluster Leaders, then conduct side-by-side field coaching to model live pitches, demos, and best practices tailored to each agent’s skill level.
- Coach agents on behaviours that improve repayment and collection scores: customer screening, expectation setting, relationship-building, and follow-up protocols before and after a sale.
- Work with regional teams to build performance improvement plans for underperforming agents, using roleplays, field simulations, and real-time feedback to lift conversion rates and activation quality.
- Train agents on portfolio risk management, delinquency reduction, customer follow-up, and repossession processes that preserve community reputation and customer dignity.
- Equip frontline teams with complaint-resolution and retention skills, collaborating with After-Sales teams to maintain positive customer experiences throughout the Easy Buy lifecycle.
- Track training effectiveness through sales productivity, repayment performance, customer retention, and agent attrition metrics, then prepare impact reports with recommended interventions for regional sales leadership.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least two years in Learning & Development, Sales Training, or Field Coaching—ideally within solar, electronics, telecoms, or FMCG—or three-plus years selling these products yourself with a proven record of mentoring peers.
- Solid technical understanding of Solar Home Systems, inverters, batteries, and basic electrical concepts.
- Hands-on sales background: you have personally carried a target and can teach others how to prospect, pitch, and close effectively.
- Experience training non-technical audiences such as agents, dealers, or micro-entrepreneurs, using adult-learning methods that keep groups engaged and knowledge transfer high.
- Willingness to travel 80% or more across the Northern Region for face-to-face training and field coaching.
- Fluent in English and at least one relevant local language (e.g., Kiswahili, Meru, Somali).
- Ability to design practical content using tools like Articulate, Captivate, H5P, PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Canva; familiarity with video editing and graphic design is an advantage.
- Comfortable using WhatsApp Business, LMS platforms, and operational apps to deliver microlearning and track performance data.
