Role Overview
The Quality Assurance Supervisor plays a hands-on role in safeguarding product integrity and regulatory compliance within a dairy processing environment. Day to day, you will guide a team of quality staff, troubleshoot production issues, and reinforce food safety systems such as HACCP, GMP, and FSSC 22000. Your work directly protects the employer’s reputation, reduces waste from rework or recalls, and helps meet customer and national standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily quality team operations to maintain compliance with company and national standards.
- Help evolve the site’s quality systems so they satisfy customer, company, and regulatory body requirements.
- Troubleshoot product and factory-floor issues, investigate non-conformances, and decide on rework, disposal, or concession approval.
- Develop QA standards and conduct inspections; advise on corrective actions when quality standards slip.
- Keep up with new or revised procedures and ensure relevant personnel are informed and trained.
- Verify and challenge traceability records for all products and components.
- Partner with operations, maintenance, and management to resolve quality problems and embed best practices.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, carry out internal audits, and recommend efficiency enhancements.
- Ensure HACCP, GMP, and FSSC 22000 systems are followed site-wide, and that staff receive proper training.
- Take on other mutually agreed tasks as requested by the Quality Assurance Manager.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Dairy Technology, Food Science, or Food Technology.
- KCSE certificate with a minimum grade of C+ (or equivalent).
- At least two years of experience in a dairy processing setting, specifically as a Quality Assurance or Quality Control Supervisor or Officer.
- Solid understanding of food safety, quality control, GMP, and HACCP principles.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail.
- A team player who can collaborate with colleagues at all levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
