Role Overview
This position drives the hands-on execution of the Citizen Demand and Oversight programme at Transparency International Kenya, with a primary focus on strengthening citizen and leadership integrity, expanding access to justice, and improving public service delivery. Based in the North Rift regional office, you will translate programme plans into daily action by coordinating workshops, legal aid clinics, advocacy campaigns, and stakeholder engagements that encourage citizens to hold their leaders accountable. Your work directly supports the fight against corruption by ensuring that people know their rights, can report injustices, and see concrete follow-through on cases and policy commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise programme staff, guiding day-to-day activities related to integrity promotion, behaviour change, and access to redress for corruption-related injustices.
- Design project work plans, budgets, and implementation schedules, then track progress against strategic goals to ensure timely delivery and sound use of donor funds.
- Develop and support national advocacy strategies that promote ethical values, encourage citizens to demand integrity from leaders, and push for faster resolution of corruption cases.
- Coordinate the Advice and Legal Aid Centre (ALAC) by conducting client intake sessions, providing initial legal advice, managing referrals, and following up on reported cases.
- Build and manage a caseload database, review it for trends, and work with pro-bono advocates to pursue public interest and strategic litigation on corruption and integrity issues.
- Monitor programme deliverables using M&E frameworks, prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, and analyse results to inform future anti-corruption and governance initiatives.
- Support partners, coalitions, and networks through capacity building, technical assistance, and joint resource mobilisation efforts that amplify the collective impact of anti-corruption work.
- Collaborate with the communications team to produce publishable articles and maintain an active social media presence that highlights corruption issues and programme outcomes.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in law from a recognised university and admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
- At least five years of professional experience in anti-corruption, governance, access to justice, electoral reforms, or stakeholder engagement, including advocacy with legislators and public officials.
- Demonstrated experience in legislative drafting and in advocating for policy or legal reforms within Kenya’s anti-corruption framework.
- Strong track record of managing partnerships with civil society organisations, government institutions, or donor agencies in the governance and anti-corruption sector.
- Proven ability to conceptualise, implement, monitor, and evaluate programmes, including experience with M&E frameworks and donor reporting.
- Practical knowledge of budgeting, expenditure tracking, and financial accountability for donor-funded projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write articles, reports, and advocacy documents for diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently from a regional office while coordinating effectively with national teams, partners, and community stakeholders.
