Job Description

Role Overview

This position sits within the pre-delivery inspection team and is responsible for making sure every vehicle meets the required standard before it leaves the facility and reaches the customer. You will carry out detailed mechanical and visual checks, identify and resolve defects, and follow the established inspection and reporting procedures that keep the operation running smoothly. Your work directly protects the company’s reputation and ensures clients receive a vehicle that is safe, complete, and ready for the road.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform full pre-delivery inspections on all vehicles according to the company checklist, confirming each unit is defect-free and ready for client handover.
  • Conduct receiving inspections when vehicles arrive, and immediately document any damage, missing components, or other issues before the vehicle enters the PDI process.
  • Check vehicles against the pre-delivery inspection standard operating procedure, covering exterior, interior, mechanical systems, electrical functions, and fluid levels.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out servicing or repairs in line with the manufacturer’s manuals and specifications.
  • Install parts and accessories as per the order or specification, ensuring every fitment is correct, secure, and fully functional.
  • Perform road tests on inspected vehicles to verify driveability, braking, steering, and overall performance in line with the SOP.
  • Complete all PDI inspection sheets and reports accurately, and submit them through the correct file management system within the required timeframe.
  • Maintain workshop tools and equipment, keeping them clean, calibrated, and ready for use, and report any issues with tools to the supervisor.
  • Update the operational system (VITS or similar) with inspection results and task progress, and take on other duties assigned by management as needed.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or a directly related technical field.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in vehicle inspection, PDI, or an automotive workshop environment.
  • Solid understanding of vehicle systems, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic components.
  • Competence in using diagnostic tools and following technical manuals and standard inspection checklists.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot cosmetic, mechanical, or safety defects that would affect customer satisfaction.
  • Disciplined approach to documentation, with confidence completing inspection sheets and data entry into digital systems.
  • Physical capability to stand for long periods, work in a workshop environment, and handle vehicle parts or tools when required.
  • Willingness to follow standard operating procedures closely and take direction from management when workflow priorities change.
