Role Overview
This Pharmaceutical Technologist position is centered on safe, accurate dispensing and day-to-day pharmacy operations in a fast-paced environment. You will serve as a key point of contact for patients and customers, helping them use medicines correctly while keeping stock, records, and storage conditions fully compliant with professional standards. Your contribution directly supports patient safety, smooth workflow, and reliable service in a busy pharmacy setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, interpret, and dispense prescriptions and over-the-counter requests accurately and in line with legal and professional requirements.
- Provide clear guidance to patients on dosage, administration, storage, possible side effects, and treatment adherence.
- Maintain prescription records, controlled substance registers, and other documentation required by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
- Monitor stock levels, raise orders, receive deliveries, and confirm quantities, batch numbers, and expiry dates.
- Store medicines and related products under correct temperature, light, and security conditions.
- Identify expired, damaged, or recalled items and handle them through the approved disposal or return process.
- Support the cosmetics and nutraceutical section by advising customers and checking product quality and shelf life.
- Work closely with pharmacists, colleagues, and other healthcare providers to resolve prescription queries and maintain efficient service.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.
- Current enrollment with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
- At least two years of hands-on experience in a busy pharmacy environment.
- Demonstrated ability to dispense accurately under pressure and manage multiple prescriptions.
- Knowledge of cosmetics and nutraceutical products is an added advantage.
- Strong record-keeping, inventory, and stock control skills.
- Good communication and customer care skills for dealing with diverse clients.
- Commitment to professional ethics, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.
