Role Overview
This pharmacist prepares and checks medicines against prescribers’ orders, ensuring each item is dispensed, labelled and packaged correctly. The role also supports safe treatment by advising healthcare professionals and counselling patients on how to use their medicines.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret medication orders, clarifying instructions where needed before dispensing.
- Dispense, compound, package and label medicines, including controlled medications, in line with applicable procedures.
- Check prescriptions and prepared medicines for accuracy and suitability.
- Respond to medication-related questions and requests from healthcare professionals.
- Explain drug therapies to patients, including guidance on appropriate use.
- Follow infection-control practices to help protect patients and pharmacy staff.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognised institution.
- Current registration and licence with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
- At least three years of relevant experience.
