Role Overview

This position is a university-level teaching appointment centred on delivering high-quality instruction in a specialised academic field. Day to day, the role involves preparing and delivering lectures, assessing student work, supervising research, and contributing to the intellectual life of the department through scholarly activity. The work matters because it shapes graduates who are both academically grounded and professionally ready, while also helping the university uphold its standing with national regulators and accrediting bodies.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lectures, seminars, and practical sessions for assigned undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses within the area of specialization.
• Develop, review, and update course outlines, reading lists, assessments, and grading criteria in alignment with departmental and institutional quality standards.
• Supervise student research projects, fieldwork placements, dissertations, and theses, providing constructive feedback at key milestones.
• Conduct original research and publish findings in reputable academic journals, conference proceedings, or equivalent scholarly outlets.
• Participate in curriculum review and programme development to keep offerings current with industry demands, professional expectations, and regulatory requirements.
• Offer academic advising and mentorship to students during scheduled office hours and through structured support sessions.
• Contribute to departmental administrative activities such as examination moderation, timetabling, student admissions, and quality assurance audits.
• Engage in professional practice, consultancy, or community outreach that enhances the practical relevance of teaching and raises the profile of the department.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A Master's degree in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized university; possession of a PhD in a related field will be a distinct advantage.
• At least several years of demonstrated teaching experience at the university level, with evidence of effective delivery of courses and positive student outcomes.
• Relevant professional or industry experience in the discipline, particularly where practical application strengthens classroom instruction.
• A proven record of scholarly engagement, including published research, conference presentations, or comparable professional outputs in the field.
• Full compliance with the requirements of the Commission for University Education (CUE) and other applicable regulatory bodies managing higher education standards.
• Current registration or active membership with the relevant professional or regulatory body that governs the discipline, where such a body exists.
