Operations Team Member- Nyali Branch

Role Overview

This restaurant team member supports both table service and kitchen operations, helping guests receive accurate, appealing meals without unnecessary delays. The role combines order handling and attentive service with food preparation, cleaning, and sanitation, so the dining area and kitchen remain ready for safe, efficient service.

Key Responsibilities

• Take guest orders, confirm ticket details, deliver meals neatly and promptly, and present bills and accept payment as required.
• Check that dishes meet required standards for presentation, temperature, freshness, and quality before they reach guests.
• Explain menu choices, respond to guest preferences, and recommend suitable items, including new menu offerings.
• Coordinate with kitchen and service colleagues about order progress, special guest needs, and busy-period priorities.
• Prepare and store food correctly, follow production procedures, and keep work practices aligned with food-safety and sanitation requirements.
• Keep tables, waiter stations, dining areas, kitchen surfaces, equipment, utensils, and guest and staff washrooms clean and orderly.
• Restock condiments and assist service staff during peak periods to help meals reach guests hot and on time.
• Handle waste appropriately, including emptying bins and cleaning grease traps; use cleaning detergents correctly and help with assigned opening and closing tasks.

Requirements & Qualifications

• At least six months of experience as a certified Java House staff member.
• KCSE certificate with a mean grade of C plain.
• In-house service training, or willingness to complete the training provided for the role.
• Interest in hospitality and a customer-focused approach to guest care.
• Ability to recommend and upsell menu items appropriately.
• Strong planning, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the judgement to make quick decisions under pressure.
• Reliable, responsible, adaptable, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to work under pressure and for extended hours when required.
