Operations Team Member

Role Overview

This role combines table service with practical support for food preparation, kitchen hygiene and restaurant upkeep. By ensuring orders are accurate, meals reach guests promptly and work areas stay clean and safe, you help the team deliver a dependable dining experience, including during busy shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Take guest orders, answer questions about menu options and recommend suitable items based on preferences, including new offerings.
• Deliver food to the correct tables in line with order tickets, checking presentation, temperature and quality before service.
• Coordinate with kitchen and service colleagues on order progress and guest requests, and help reduce delays during peak periods.
• Present bills promptly, accept payments and maintain tidy, ready-to-use tables and waiter stations.
• Assist with food preparation, presentation and storage, following established procedures and maintaining the required quality.
• Clean and sanitise kitchen areas, equipment, utensils, crockery, washrooms and other assigned spaces; use detergents correctly.
• Restock condiments, manage waste, empty bins and clean grease traps as required.
• Support opening and closing tasks and follow food safety and sanitation practices throughout each shift.

Requirements & Qualifications

• At least six months of experience as a certified Java House staff member.
• KCSE certificate with a mean grade of C plain.
• In-house training in service.
• Strong customer-care and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain menu choices and suggest additional or new items appropriately.
• Good planning and problem-solving skills, sound judgement under pressure and the ability to make quick decisions.
• Reliable, responsible, flexible and collaborative, with a proactive, results-focused approach.
• Willingness to work under pressure and for long hours, and a genuine interest in the hospitality industry.
