Role Overview
This position keeps an automotive business running as a single, coordinated operation—linking the showroom, service bay, parts store, purchasing, and administrative functions so that vehicles and components move through the business without avoidable hold-ups. The manager turns business targets into daily routines, unblocks cross-departmental bottlenecks, and safeguards both margin and reputation. Success shows up as smoother workflows, tighter cost control, accurate stock, and customers who receive correct vehicles or parts on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Run daily operations across sales, workshop/service, stores, procurement, and administration, putting procedures and controls in place that keep every function working toward the same goals.
- Track operational performance, spot recurring trouble spots—such as delayed job cards, parts shortages, or slow order turnaround—and drive practical fixes.
- Partner with the sales team on order tracking, vehicle/parts availability, and delivery timelines; report on fulfillment or conversion issues that affect revenue.
- Oversee workshop and service workflow from vehicle reception through assessment, repair, and release, making sure inspections and repair records are completed correctly.
- Manage automotive inventory—vehicles, spare parts, accessories, and consumables—by setting reorder triggers, supervising stock counts and reconciliations, and reducing losses, damage, overstock, and stock-outs.
- Coordinate procurement with approved suppliers, secure competitive pricing and reliable delivery, review supplier performance, and keep purchasing documentation in order.
- Monitor operational spending against approved budgets, flag waste or unnecessary expenditure, and work with finance to keep operational reporting accurate.
- Supervise and coordinate teams across departments, clarifying responsibilities and resolving cross-functional challenges.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Automotive Management, or a related discipline.
- Four to six years of relevant operations management experience, ideally within the automotive sector.
- Background in automotive sales, dealership, workshop, spare parts, or vehicle-related operations is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate work teams.
- Practical knowledge of inventory control, procurement, budgeting, and operational reporting.
- Solid grasp of automotive business operations and customer service expectations.
