Operating Theatre (OT) Nurse

Role Overview

As an Operating Theatre Nurse, you will help prepare patients and the theatre for surgery, support the surgical team during procedures, and contribute to safe post-procedure care. Your attention to sterile practice, infection prevention, and coordinated teamwork will help protect patients and keep operating lists running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating theatre, equipment, and instruments for scheduled procedures, checking that items are ready for use.
• Assist the surgeon and wider surgical team before, during, and after operations.
• Maintain sterile technique throughout procedures and follow infection-control and patient-safety practices.
• Monitor patients during surgery and promptly communicate relevant observations to the clinical team.
• Support orderly theatre workflows, coordinating with colleagues to help procedures progress efficiently.
• Apply relevant knowledge of plastic, orthopaedic, and general surgery procedures and their associated instruments.
• Work collaboratively with surgeons and multidisciplinary colleagues while maintaining clear communication and organised practice.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Previous operating theatre nursing experience in Dubai is required.
• Valid DHA licence.
• Working knowledge of plastic surgery, orthopaedic surgery, and general surgery.
• Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile technique, infection prevention, and patient-safety protocols.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside surgeons and other healthcare professionals.
