Every check, measurement, and audit shapes a safer, more consistent shopping environment.

- Conduct routine checks on food handling, storage, and display practices, identifying gaps and driving corrective measures.
- Maintain precise records of inspections, temperature logs, and cleaning schedules to support traceability and internal accountability.
- Stay current with evolving food safety regulations and industry best practices, applying them to store-wide procedures and staff guidance.
- Lead internal audits on a scheduled basis and verify that any non-compliances are resolved within agreed timeframes.
- Oversee the cold chain and ambient storage of fresh produce, deli, bakery, and other perishable items to protect product integrity.
- Inspect refrigeration units, freezers, and other food-contact equipment to verify temperature accuracy and cleanliness.
- Coordinate waste streams—general, recyclable, and organic—ensuring correct separation, safe containment, and prompt collection.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A university degree in food science, microbiology, public health, or a closely related discipline.
- A recognised food safety certification (for example HACCP or ISO 22000) is mandatory.
- Between two and four years of hands-on experience in a quality assurance, hygiene, or food safety role, ideally within hotels, restaurants, catering, public-sector facilities, food production plants, or horticulture operations.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise inspection rounds, manage documentation, and respond calmly to time-sensitive issues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with store staff, cleaning teams, and external auditors.
