Role Overview
You will be the face of our logistics operation across Ruiru and greater Nairobi, ensuring every parcel reaches its destination intact and on time. Each day starts with verifying dispatch vouchers, planning the most efficient route through congested urban roads, and ends with collecting digital or signed proof of delivery. Your reliability directly keeps our supply chain moving, reduces customer complaints, and builds trust in our courier services.
Key Responsibilities
- Cross-check every package against the dispatch manifest before departure, flagging any mismatches to the warehouse team immediately.
- Navigate highways, feeder roads, and residential lanes using GPS and local knowledge to hit tight time windows while avoiding traffic bottlenecks.
- Collect verifiable proof of delivery—customer signature or digital confirmation—after each handover and return the records to dispatch at end of shift.
- Perform a structured pre-ride inspection each morning: check tyre pressure, brake function, oil level, headlights, and indicators.
- Keep the assigned motorcycle clean and mechanically sound; schedule minor repairs and oil changes with authorised service partners before issues escalate.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic regulations, speed limits, and parking rules; wear the full protective kit (approved helmet, high-vis vest, boots) during every ride.
- Secure cargo inside weatherproof top boxes with locks and straps to prevent theft or water damage while in transit.
- Report any road incidents, mechanical faults, or delivery obstacles to the logistics coordinator within minutes, logging details in the incident book.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Valid Kenyan driving licence with proper endorsement for motorcycles (Class FG or A3) and a clean traffic record free of major violations.
- Minimum two years of verifiable experience as a commercial motorbike delivery rider or courier—no informal or unpaid riding work.
- Deep route knowledge of Ruiru, Thika Road, and the wider Nairobi metropolitan area, including shortcuts, recurring congestion points, and key landmarks.
- Basic motorcycle mechanics skill: able to adjust chains, top up engine oil, check brake pads, and change a tyre confidently without roadside assistance.
- Strong personal time management to juggle multiple drop-offs in one run while preserving package integrity and customer timelines.
- Independent work ethic with the discipline to stay in touch with the dispatch team via phone or messaging app without constant oversight.
- Courteous communication when interacting with customers and warehouse colleagues—able to answer simple queries without revealing package contents.
