MEP Project Coordinator

Role Overview

As MEP Project Coordinator, you sit at the centre of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing workstreams, keeping design intent, site activity, and contractor schedules moving in step. Day to day, you translate drawings, submittals, and site conditions into a live picture of where each trade stands, flagging clashes and slippages before they turn into rework. Your work is what keeps trade interfaces aligned and lets the project reach handover without costly surprises.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain integrated MEP schedules covering mechanical, electrical, and plumbing packages, tracking milestones, dependencies, and equipment lead times.
• Run and document coordination meetings with engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and client-side stakeholders, issuing minutes and action logs afterwards.
• Review drawings, submittals, RFIs, and shop documents for clashes or gaps between disciplines, and drive resolution with the responsible parties.
• Follow procurement and delivery of long-lead MEP equipment, escalating potential delays before they affect the programme.
• Carry out site walkdowns to verify installed work against approved designs, and log snags and punch-list items through to closeout.
• Produce regular progress reports, risk registers, and change records that give project leadership an accurate read on status.
• Identify emerging issues proactively and coordinate corrective action across trades rather than waiting for problems to be raised.
• Support commissioning and handover by ensuring MEP documentation, test records, and as-built information are complete and current.

Requirements & Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in MEP project coordination, construction, engineering, or a closely related field.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, installation sequencing, and how the disciplines interact on site.
• Confidence reading technical drawings, specifications, and schedules, with familiarity with project scheduling tools.
• Strong organisational and project management ability, including the discipline to keep documentation and reporting current.
• Proven capacity to handle several competing priorities at once without letting detail slip.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, comfortable dealing with engineers, contractors, and clients at different levels.
• Advanced English communication skills, written and spoken.
• A technical background in mechanical, electrical, or building services engineering, construction management, or equivalent practical experience.
