Role Overview
You will join our technical operations team as a Mechanical Service and Maintenance Engineer, focusing on keeping industrial machinery running at peak performance. Your day-to-day work involves installing new equipment, responding quickly to breakdowns, and carrying out planned maintenance that prevents costly downtime. By diagnosing faults accurately and tuning machinery for optimal output, you directly support production continuity and workplace safety across our facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead machine installation and commissioning activities, ensuring all equipment is set up correctly and integrated smoothly into existing production lines.
- Perform scheduled servicing and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems, replacing worn parts and adjusting components to extend equipment lifespan.
- Respond to reactive maintenance calls to diagnose and resolve breakdowns promptly, minimising disruption to operations.
- Carry out regular safety inspections of machinery and the surrounding workspace, identifying hazards and taking corrective action before incidents occur.
- Fine-tune machine settings such as speed, pressure, and alignment to optimise mechanical efficiency and product quality.
- Keep precise records of maintenance work, machine history, and parts usage, and track spare-parts inventory to ensure critical items are always available.
- Provide hands-on training to machine operators and other team members on safe operating procedures and basic troubleshooting techniques.
- Maintain a clean, organised work environment and follow all relevant industry regulations and company safety policies.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a closely related technical discipline.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in a similar mechanical engineering or maintenance role, with demonstrated troubleshooting responsibilities.
- Comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems, including installation procedures, maintenance methodologies, and repair techniques.
- Strong diagnostic skills using tools, gauges, and test equipment to identify root causes of mechanical faults.
- Excellent analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to make sound decisions under time pressure.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications for maintaining maintenance logs, inventory trackers, and basic reporting tasks.
