Job Description
Role Overview
This internship places you at the heart of the factory's continuous improvement engine, working shoulder-to-shoulder with production teams and local leadership to close performance gaps and build sustainable ways of working. Your daily focus will be on turning high-level business priorities into concrete shop-floor actions, applying structured problem-solving, and helping colleagues adopt lean routines that make the factory safer, more efficient, and more reliable. The role is designed for someone who enjoys hands-on coaching, data-driven analysis, and seeing how small improvements compound into meaningful business results.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the translation of market and functional priorities into the factory's operating plan, ensuring clear alignment between strategic goals and daily activities.
- Facilitate the deployment of continuous improvement methodologies (such as NCE, TPM, or lean) across assigned production areas, with a focus on practical application rather than theory.
- Lead targeted improvement projects aimed at reducing losses, improving quality, or increasing line efficiency, from initial scoping through to result tracking.
- Coach operators, team leads, and shift managers on core lean tools and daily management routines, using a "coach by doing" approach on the shop floor.
- Act as a connector between departments—such as maintenance, quality, logistics, and production—to encourage cross-fertilization of best practices and prevent silo working.
- Monitor raw and packaging material stock levels against policy requirements, and support procurement teams in maintaining healthy supplier relationships.
- Support the introduction and adoption of digital tools in factory operations, helping teams interpret data and use it for faster, better decisions.
- Prepare performance summaries, meeting materials, and progress reports for factory leadership to review.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Pursuing or holding a degree in manufacturing, industrial engineering, supply chain management, or a related discipline.
- At least one year of experience working in a factory or manufacturing environment (internships and placements are acceptable).
- Working knowledge of continuous improvement concepts; exposure to TPM, lean manufacturing, or structured problem-solving is a strong advantage.
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills, with the confidence to interact with operators as well as senior factory leaders.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret production data, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Curiosity about how things work and a genuine passion for operational excellence and process improvement.
- Good organizational skills, capable of managing multiple small projects at the same time without losing attention to detail.
