Job Description

Role Overview

As an EPF Laboratory Specialist Trainee, you will build a practical foundation in production chemistry and fluid analysis while directly supporting Early Production Facility projects. Working alongside seasoned laboratory specialists and technical supervisors, you will carry out hands-on testing, sampling, and quality control tasks that keep field operations running safely and to specification. This is a development-focused position designed for recent graduates who want to convert academic knowledge into applied technical competency within a global energy technology environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing in line with established procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Carry out routine analysis of crude oil, gas, produced water, glycol, amine, and production chemicals using approved industry methods.
  • Conduct field sampling while following HSE protocols and safe work practices.
  • Apply quality control practices consistent with the laboratory quality management system and ISO standards.
  • Assist with calibration, maintenance, and functional checks of laboratory equipment.
  • Record and manage test results, reports, calibration logs, and quality documentation using digital tools.
  • Help track and manage inventory of consumables and reagents.
  • Prepare laboratory reports and technical summaries for internal stakeholders.
  • Take part in audits, inspections, quality improvement efforts, and compliance verification.
  • Support laboratory commissioning, startup activities, and the introduction of new methods as needed.
  • Develop technical competency in hydrocarbon analysis and fluid characterization.
  • Maintain a safe, compliant laboratory environment and participate in safety programs and risk assessments.
  • Complete structured training, competency milestones, and personal development plans.
  • Contribute to an inclusive, culturally sensitive, and adaptable global working environment.
  • Support sustainability initiatives through responsible laboratory practices.
  • Uphold the company Code of Conduct and ethical standards in all professional activities.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • 0–2 years of experience; recent graduates are preferred.
  • Strong academic background in chemistry, laboratory science, or related subjects.
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory techniques, chemical handling, and laboratory safety.
  • Internship, research project, or practical laboratory experience is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as GC, spectrophotometer, and water analysis instruments is a plus.
  • Awareness of oil and gas production, hydrocarbon properties, or process fluids is desirable.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and ISO standards is an advantage.
  • Comfort with digital data management and MS Office tools.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with willingness to perform field and laboratory work.
  • Willingness to travel and/or relocate as required.
  • Fluency in English.
