Junior Accountant

Role Overview

This role supports the finance team by handling the day-to-day recording of transactions, from processing invoices to reconciling bank statements, ensuring every entry is accurate and timely. As a Junior Accountant, you will take ownership of core accounting tasks such as managing accounts payable and receivable and preparing financial reports, directly contributing to the company's regulatory compliance and cash-flow visibility. This position matters because your attention to detail keeps the financial records reliable, enabling smoother month-end closures and informed decision-making across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and record all daily financial transactions in the accounting system, including sales invoices, purchase bills, and expense entries.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts payable and receivable ledgers, following up on outstanding payments when needed.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow to flag any discrepancies early.
• Prepare purchase orders (LPOs), invoices, and routine financial reports for management review.
• Support the month-end and year-end closing procedures by preparing adjusting entries and account analyses.
• Ensure all accounting practices comply with UAE VAT regulations and internal company policies.
• Organise and maintain a proper filing system for vouchers, invoices, and supporting documents for audit readiness.
• Assist senior accountants with ad-hoc financial analysis and data entry tasks as required.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
• 1–2 years of hands-on accounting experience gained within the UAE market.
• Proven proficiency in using Zoho Books accounting software (mandatory).
• Solid understanding of UAE VAT regulations and their application in day-to-day accounting.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to spot errors and inconsistencies in financial data.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Relevant accounting certifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, or CMA) are a plus but not required.
