Role Overview
This position keeps the organisation's core business platforms — the ERP suite and the applications around it — available, secure, and properly configured for staff across multiple business units. Day to day, the holder triages incoming support requests, coordinates super users and external consultants, and carries out the configuration, access, backup, and upgrade work that keeps systems running smoothly. The role matters because commercial operations depend on these platforms being online and trustworthy; delays or access problems here ripple straight into the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for employees using the company's business applications, resolving questions, faults, and training gaps, and escalating anything beyond first-line scope to vendors or consultants.
- Track performance against agreed service level targets and hold regular catch-ups with business users to gauge satisfaction and surface recurring pain points.
- Coordinate super users across the organisation's companies and act as the bridge between them and the external consulting firms that maintain the systems, so requests and changes move in both directions without getting lost.
- Connect the ERP with other in-house applications, streamline data exchange between them, and tune configurations to remove performance issues that slow day-to-day work.
- Administer user access, roles, and authorisations — including segregation-of-duties reviews alongside the risk team — and apply access controls, encryption, and data protection rules.
- Safeguard data quality and change control by running imports and cleanups, then testing customisations and updates before they go live so nothing breaks existing operations.
- Own backup, disaster recovery, patching, and version upgrades, planning each so that disruption to the business is minimal and compatibility with existing integrations is preserved.
- Manage licensing, recurrent vendor payments, asset and lifecycle records for business systems, system documentation, user training material, and involvement in implementation or migration projects.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related discipline.
- Approximately two years of hands-on experience in a comparable support, administration, or analyst role.
- Practical familiarity with ERP administration and functional use, plus an understanding of how system application architectures fit together.
- Exposure to one or more mainstream enterprise platforms — for example SAP, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Syspro, or similar.
- Ability to work through problems methodically to root cause rather than treating symptoms.
- Grasp of business processes and how they translate into system configuration and support decisions.
- An IT certification would strengthen an application, though it is not mandatory.
