Grants Officer

Reporting to: Director, Research and Extension
Job Purpose
The Grants Officer will strengthen Egerton University’s capacity for resource mobilization, grants acquisition, and grants management by coordinating pre‑award and post‑award grant processes, ensuring donor compliance, supporting academic staff in proposal development, and contributing to the achievement of the University Strategic Plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate pre‑award activities, including identifying funding opportunities and guiding proposal development.
- Manage post‑award processes, including budgeting, financial reporting, and donor compliance.
- Support academic staff in preparing competitive grant applications.
- Ensure adherence to donor and university policies throughout the grant lifecycle.
- Prepare and submit timely reports to internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to resource mobilization strategies aligned with the University Strategic Plan.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants MUST have the following academic/professional qualifications and experience:
- Master’s degree in Project Management, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Development Studies, or a related field.
- At least three (3) years’ experience in grants management, research administration, or donor‑funded project coordination in an international organization.
- Demonstrated experience in proposal development and donor reporting in an international organization.
- Familiarity with national and international research funders (NRF, EU, USAID, World Bank, Foundations).
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
Salary Scale
Grants Officer – Grade 12: Kshs. 119,858.00 – Kshs. 184,523.00 per month.
