Job Description

Role Overview

This 12-month finance internship is designed for recent Christian graduates who want to build a strong foundation in accounting and financial operations within a humanitarian-focused organisation. You will spend your days processing supplier payments, managing cash advances, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and maintaining orderly financial records, all while receiving structured on-the-job mentorship. Your work will directly support the finance team’s accuracy and compliance, ensuring that vendors are paid on time, advances are settled properly, and auditors can rely on clean documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process supplier invoices received through the dedicated finance mailbox and ensure they are approved, coded, and paid according to set timelines.
  • Review purchase orders on a quarterly basis to identify stale or unfulfilled orders and follow up with the relevant departments.
  • Prepare monthly creditor reconciliations, investigate disputed or overdue items, and maintain clear communication with vendors to resolve outstanding balances.
  • Handle cash advance requests in line with internal policy, coordinate with the bank teller on uncollected funds, and allocate advance-related balances to the correct accounts for accurate ageing.
  • Manage the corporate credit card workflow by recording expenses in the reporting system and performing general ledger reconciliation for card transactions.
  • Support inter-office payment settlements by allocating and reconciling balance sheet accounts as assigned.
  • Maintain the finance archive using a tracking tool, ensure physical and digital files are legible and correctly filed, and retrieve documents for internal or external auditors and government agencies when requested.
  • Participate in operational budgeting, contribute to financial review meetings, and prepare ad hoc financial analysis or administrative support for events and facilities management as needed.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification with at least CPA or ACCA Level 2.
  • Graduated within the last two years, with little or no prior full-time work experience.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills, with the ability to explain financial issues clearly to vendors and internal colleagues.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities and a proven capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Computer literacy in MS Word, MS Excel, and at least one accounting or expense management software package.
  • A Christ-centred approach to work and life, demonstrating personal integrity, trustworthiness, and humanitarian diplomacy.

What We Offer / Why Join

This is more than a typical internship. You will join a structured talent incubation programme that combines real financial responsibilities with personal, spiritual, and professional development. Throughout the 12 months, you will receive dedicated coaching and mentorship from experienced finance staff, giving you the confidence to launch your career in accounting or humanitarian finance. You will also have opportunities to participate in finance review meetings, learn from cross-functional tasks, and build a track record of hands-on achievements that will strengthen your future job applications.
