Role Overview
This position is responsible for leading a branch-based team of installation technicians, with a focus on raising the quality and reliability of every device deployment. On a typical day, you will be out in the field or at the branch coaching technicians through tricky installs, resolving technical escalations, and making sure the team has the tools and devices needed to complete work without unnecessary delays. Your ability to train, evaluate, and motivate technicians directly affects how few devices drop offline, how satisfied customers remain, and how smoothly the branch operates against its targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise installation technicians by demonstrating correct installation procedures, setting quality expectations, and addressing issues technicians face during their assignments.
- Build a structured approach for training technicians on new installation methods and refresh their skills regularly to minimise device offline incidents.
- Plan and coordinate device and tool availability so that installations and re-installations are never held up by missing or defective equipment.
- Act as the primary technical escalation point for technicians during installations, diagnosing problems and providing quick, practical solutions to keep jobs moving.
- Conduct periodic re-training sessions—at least once every two months—to confirm each technician's skill level and decide whether to grant or withdraw their permission to perform installation work.
- Hold routine team meetings to analyse offline cases, identify recurring causes, and agree on concrete actions to improve installation quality.
- Compile and submit offline reports to your supervisor within agreed timelines, including details of incident trends and recommended corrective measures.
- Take on any additional tasks assigned by management to support the overall performance of the branch and field operations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in device installation, technical field operations, or a closely related discipline that involves working directly with hardware and connectivity.
- Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity, specifically managing or guiding field technicians through daily work and performance challenges.
- Strong working knowledge of installation processes, device troubleshooting techniques, and the common technical factors that cause devices to go offline.
- Ability to design and deliver practical training, mentor technicians one-on-one, and objectively evaluate their skills and readiness for field assignments.
- Solid problem-solving ability, with the confidence to diagnose and resolve technical issues on the spot without losing sight of broader team goals.
- Organised planning and reporting skills, including experience in tracking tools, inventory, or operational metrics and presenting findings clearly to management.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal leadership skills, able to motivate a team while maintaining accountability for quality standards.
- A high level of integrity, attention to detail, and personal responsibility when it comes to meeting operational deadlines and upholding installation quality.
