Role Overview
As General Manager, you will lead the daily operations of the business while providing strategic direction across every function. You will turn the board’s vision into concrete action plans, drive sales and customer growth, and take ownership of budgeting, liquidity, and performance management. Your decisions will shape the company’s operational efficiency, financial health, and long-term competitiveness in the freight and import/export market.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop business plans and tactical action plans that translate the overall strategic plan into measurable operational targets.
- Champion the strategic planning process, coordinating input from all functions and ensuring short- and long-term priorities are clearly defined and executed.
- Implement sales strategies across the company, achieve revenue targets, and expand the customer base by identifying new growth opportunities.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring that strategic, operational, and budgetary goals are met while maintaining efficiency across all departments.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, project income and expenses, and closely monitor costs to reduce waste and prevent financial irregularities.
- Manage company liquidity by ensuring timely debt collection, controlling expenditure, and optimizing cash flow.
- Build a deep understanding of customer needs and import/export patterns, using that insight to refine services and stay ahead of competitive and market developments.
- Provide quarterly financial and performance reports to the board, clearly explaining variances, trends, and recommended adjustments to strategy, policy, and risk management.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a business-related discipline, plus a bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of experience managing teams and multiple operational functions.
- Proven experience in planning, budgeting, and managing financial performance.
- Knowledge of the freight industry is an added advantage.
- Strong problem-solving aptitude with outstanding organizational and leadership skills.
- Sound stakeholder engagement and analytical skills, with the ability to make informed decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, numeracy, presentation, and analytical skills.
