General Accountant

Role Overview

As a General Accountant, you will manage day-to-day accounting and reporting for several client accounts, taking each set of records through to finalisation. Your work will support reliable financial statements and help clients meet UAE VAT and Corporate Tax requirements on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain client books, record journal entries, and complete the accounting cycle through account finalisation.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including statements developed from underlying records.
• Prepare and submit UAE VAT and Corporate Tax returns in line with applicable requirements.
• Reconcile bank accounts and monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger balances.
• Use Odoo Accounting Software to maintain accounting records and produce financial reports.
• Review transactions and reporting data for accuracy, consistency, and alignment with accounting standards and internal policies.
• Discuss accounting and financial matters clearly with clients and management, and deliver work within deadlines.

Requirements & Qualifications

• At least two years of accounting experience in the UAE.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Practical experience managing a complete accounting cycle and preparing financial statements from the underlying records.
• Required working experience with Odoo Accounting Software.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, UAE accounting practices, VAT, and Corporate Tax compliance.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with experience in general ledger management and bank reconciliations.
• Fluent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate financial information professionally.
• Careful, analytical approach and the ability to work independently under time pressure.
• Experience in a UAE accounting, audit, or tax consultancy firm is an advantage.
