Job Description
Role Overview
This role leads technical coordination of gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) and education across World Vision Kenya’s strategy, programmes and grants. It helps teams turn standards and evidence into inclusive programme design and delivery, while building staff and partner capability and strengthening collaboration with government, communities and sector partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate education work across the office and provide technical advice to national and field teams, area programmes and grant projects.
- Review GEDSI approaches, plans and assessment tools against organisational, donor and applicable national and international standards; ensure projects assess gender and disability needs and use the findings in programme design, plans and budgets.
- Identify gaps in ongoing programmes and support practical interventions that improve inclusion and education outcomes, including in fragile and emergency settings.
- Build staff and partner capacity in GEDSI and education models, promote gender-sensitive conduct, and help teams understand appropriate channels for raising discrimination concerns.
- Contribute to programme development and grant acquisition by integrating GEDSI into proposals and supporting the development and positioning of education and GEDSI concepts.
- Provide technical input to project start-up and handover, and support quality implementation of education activities in area programmes and grants.
- Use monitoring, baseline and evaluation data to inform decisions; document and share effective practices and learning for adaptation or wider use.
- Represent the organisation in relevant coordination groups, networks and policy discussions; identify policy gaps, develop advocacy evidence, and support partner agreements and education-sector forums.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in gender studies, education, special needs education, social sciences or a related discipline from a recognised university.
- At least seven years of experience in gender equality, disability, social inclusion and education programming, with evidence of successful programme implementation.
- Demonstrated experience in proposal development, resource mobilisation and grant management.
- Experience engaging government ministries and other stakeholders; familiarity with World Vision systems, policies and standards is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of international gender-mainstreaming approaches and the ability to collect and analyse community-level data on gender and disability.
- Ability to train and coach staff and partners, manage budgets, organise complex work and exercise sound independent judgement.
- Clear written and spoken communication in English and Kiswahili, with effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications and membership in a national or international social work professional body are advantageous.
