Role Overview
This teaching position focuses on delivering lessons that follow the SABIS curriculum and educational philosophy, using a structured, point-based classroom system to keep students engaged and accountable. Day to day, you will teach assigned subjects, track student progress through exams and marking, and step in for a range of school-wide duties that keep operations running smoothly. The core purpose of this role is to help students at all ability levels reach their academic potential while maintaining a disciplined, supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lessons using provided plans and pacing charts, adapting them as needed to fit the SABIS point system and your students' learning pace.
- Mark subject-specific exams according to the department’s schedule and materials, ensuring timely and accurate feedback.
- Maintain an orderly classroom by applying the SABIS point system consistently, promoting focus and positive behaviour.
- Identify students who are struggling academically and provide targeted support to help them improve and stay motivated.
- Invigilate exams in a controlled, well-managed setting, upholding integrity and proper exam procedures.
- Support external exam preparation by working through past papers and following a structured revision schedule where applicable.
- Carry out additional school duties such as covering for absent teachers, supervising lunch and bus routines, managing traffic flow, and assisting with student testing.
- Collaborate with the student life coordinator to plan and participate in events like art showcases, open house, and physical education activities.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in a related subject area or an equivalent qualification.
- Native-level proficiency in French, with the ability to teach and communicate fluently.
- A PGCE certification or a master’s degree in education is mandatory.
- Working knowledge of essential MS Office applications for lesson planning, grading, and communication.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to a structured school environment.
