Role Overview
We are seeking an analytical, highly accountable Finance & Procurement Manager to direct the corporate financial strategy, accounting protocols, and vendor operations of our established global law firm client. Your primary focus will be to maintain bulletproof internal financial controls, optimize working capital, and accelerate billing and collections schedules across active client portfolios. This position bridges high-level commercial strategy with practical operational execution; you will produce comprehensive management reports, manage supplier relationships, and ensure strict compliance with statutory and tax regulations. The role calls for an experienced financial leader holding full professional credentials (CPA-K/ACCA) who possesses a firm background in professional services cash-flow management, procurement auditing, and cross-departmental supervision.
Core Competencies
Strategic Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Partner closely with the Managing Partner to construct, evaluate, and implement fiscal frameworks that advance long-term organizational stability.
- Formulate detailed financial statements, budget-versus-actual variance reports, and operational risk metrics to guide executive decision-making.
- Direct corporate budgeting, forecasting, cash flow modeling, and multi-year financial projections to safeguard organizational liquidity.
- Deliver daily cash-position evaluations, weekly billing tracking reports, and finalized monthly management accounts on schedule.
Revenue Cycle & Working Capital Optimization
- Drive the firm's complete billing and collections protocol, conducting structured physical engagements with clients to secure timely fee payments.
- Maintain rigorous debtor-aging registers, enforcing clear follow-up actions, structured payment commitments, and collection recovery tracks.
- Track work-in-progress (WIP), unbilled legal fees, client retainers, disbursements, and matter-level profitability indices across practice groups.
- Examine revenue distributions, cost centers, and net profit margins categorized by client, legal department, advocate, and specific legal matter.
Procurement Administration & Vendor Governance
- Orchestrate the end-to-end purchasing cycle, encompassing requisition reviews, vendor sourcing, quotation comparisons, and invoice matching.
- Execute thorough supplier due diligence and contractual negotiations to secure cost-effective agreements that avoid conflicts of interest.
- Maintain accurate vendor registries, master procurement contracts, and asset registers, evaluating supplier performance against delivery KPIs.
- Conduct regular cost audits to eliminate operational waste, optimize expenditure efficiency, and enhance value for money across firm purchases.
Internal Controls, Compliance & Team Oversight
- Refine internal accounting controls, expense authorization thresholds, and risk management policies to prevent financial leakage.
- Ensure complete compliance with statutory tax filings, regulatory reporting, and accounting framework mandates, maintaining audit-ready archives.
- Coordinate external financial audits and manage external relationships with banking institutions, tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
- Supervise, train, and mentor the finance and procurement staff, assigning performance KPIs, reviewing outputs, and driving operational excellence.
Skills & Experience Required
Minimum Entry Criteria
- Academic Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a business-related discipline (minimum Second-Class Honours, Upper Division) paired with a minimum KCSE grade of B.
- Professional Certification: Full CPA(K), ACCA, or an equivalent recognized professional accountancy body membership.
- Industry Experience: Minimum of 6 years of progressive finance or accounting experience, with at least 3 years served in a formal supervisory or managerial capacity. Prior experience within a law firm or professional services environment is a strong advantage.
- Technical Mastery: In-depth understanding of tax legislation, financial modeling, accounting software ecosystems, and advanced Microsoft Excel applications.
