Role Overview
This position takes ownership of the full finance function for a single operating unit, acting as the financial conscience of the business while keeping its numbers accurate, timely and audit-ready. Day to day, you will run the accounting cycle, chase down receivables, produce the reporting pack that leadership relies on, and make sure the control environment actually holds up under scrutiny. Because the unit's finance team reports into you, the role also carries a coaching and workflow-management dimension that directly shapes how reliably the numbers land each month.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the unit's accounting operations end to end, from ledger maintenance and reconciliations through to month-end close, safeguarding cash, stock and fixed assets along the way.
- Build and circulate recurring revenue summaries, cash flow projections and management accounts that give senior stakeholders a clear view of trading results, margins and budget variances.
- Own the receivables cycle: raising invoices, monitoring ageing balances, setting and reviewing credit limits, and pursuing overdue accounts to keep working capital moving.
- Keep all tax and statutory obligations on track, preparing and submitting filings on schedule and liaising with advisers or authorities where queries arise.
- Assemble the schedules, reconciliations and supporting evidence required for internal and external audits, then drive through any remedial actions that come out of them.
- Strengthen and document internal controls, reviewing existing processes for gaps and tightening them where risk is identified.
- Supervise the unit finance team — allocating workloads, checking accuracy of output, and supporting colleagues' technical development.
- Operate and maintain the finance technology stack, ensuring Sun, Micros Fidelio and MC data stays clean, consistent and usable for reporting.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Degree or diploma-level education in accounting, finance or a closely related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification (CPA or ACCA) — fully certified or at an advanced stage of completion.
- At least four years in a comparable finance role, with some exposure to leading or coordinating the work of others.
- Practical, hands-on familiarity with Sun accounting software, Micros Fidelio and MC systems.
- Working knowledge of internal control frameworks, credit control practice and local tax compliance requirements.
- Confidence preparing management reports and cash flow forecasts accurately and to deadline.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues, auditors and external counterparties.
